The group’s first research thrust covers new integrated production methods and technologies: eco-compatible techniques, horticultural grafting, bio-fumigation and solarisation for soil decontamination, and phytosanitary analysis of compost.
Our second thrust deals with the quality and production of protected horticultural crops, plant material, special cultivation systems, climate control and eco-compatible techniques. Our third thrust deals with irrigation scheduling, studying and modelling the use of water and nutrients in crops, and controlling fertigation.
With regard to plant health, the group's key activities involve the epidemiology and control of phytophthora parasitica in cherry tomatoes, assessing how composts suppress soil pathogens, and the biofumigation effect of crop remains used on harmful fungi.
And finally, ornamental production, which includes propagation techniques, the study and management of specific facilities, nutritional eco-physiology, strategies to optimise growth and develop crops, and how these all affect ornamental quality. The groups service offer includes experimental greenhouses on the UAL-Anecoop Research Farm
and a quality control and post-harvest laboratory for fruit and vegetables.
We also study the ecophysiology of crops and photosynthesis. We also offer specialised consultancy services for establishing vegetable crops, as well as advice on agricultural waste management and agricultural environmental impact studies. Finally, we also study methods for controlling soil pathogens in agricultural crops.
