The first line of research corresponds to new methods and technologies in integrated production: eco-compatible techniques, horticultural grafting, biofumigation and solarization as a soil disinfectant and phytosanitary valorization of compost.
The second line is the optimization of the quality and production of protected horticultural crops, plant material, special cultivation systems, climate control and eco-compatible techniques. Irrigation scheduling, water and nutrient use in crops and their modeling, as well as fertigation control constitute the third line of research of this group.
In plant health, the treatment of the epidemiology and control of phytophthora parasitica in cherry tomatoes, as well as the evaluation of the suppressiveness of different composts against soil pathogens, and the biofumigant effect of crop residues against different phytopathogenic fungi are the main activities of the group in this area.
Finally, ornamental production, which would include propagation techniques, the study of specific facilities and their management, ecophysiology of nutrition, study of different strategies for the optimization of crop growth and development, as well as their impact on ornamental quality. The services offered by this group include experimental greenhouses at the UAL-Anecoop farm.
Secondly, a laboratory for quality control and postharvest of fruits and vegetables. On the other hand, studies on crop ecophysiology and photosynthesis. They also offer specialized consulting services for the implementation of horticultural crops, as well as advice on agricultural waste management and agricultural environmental impact studies. Finally, the study of control methods for soil pathogens in agricultural crops.
